Pinarello introduced their new TT bike this morning, the Bolide – a couple of days before the Giro d’Italia – with none other than Sir Bradley Wiggins.
Under development with Team Sky for over a year, the Bolide is said to be 15 per cent more aerodynamic and five per cent lighter than the Graal TT bike that Sir Brad won the TdF on last year. The company also claims that, under yet-unspecified conditions, the new aerodynamic shape of the frame will generate forward thrust…..and Sir Isaac Newton has turned over in his grave, or Team Sky has harnessed “the Force” (or though in our parlance it’s the almost-mythical “tailwind” perhaps). Now that would be cool to learn more about.
But for now, things we know: both front and rear brakes incorporate aerodynamic fairings, internal cable routing, integrated handlebar and stem, the Di2 electronic shifters have also been integrated into the handlebar.
Although Team Sky has yet to confirm whether Sir Brad will ride it on the Giro, we’re betting on it.
