Well I’m turning into a weight weenie I think, even though disc brakes are here to stay they’ll still be heavier overall, and it’s the control and modulation that’ supposed to be superior. That said, keep it simple is my motto. Yesterday’s ride there was a section with 11% twisty descent…not fun with my carbon Reynolds.
Where do you come down on disc brakes, mechanical or hydraulic?
I’m more of a mechanical guy – the braking isn’t quite as sharp but I like the simplicity and adjustability of the mechanical disc brakes.

That’s really the trick with composite wheels. I just hope they stick with the mechanical discs. Too much down-side to the hydraulics.
